(In a hurry to catch the post before the bugle is sounded for the Victory of the modern Messiah)
The exit polls have generated
high decibel euphoric cry shattering the 48 hour silence preceding the last
phase of 2014 Indian elections and announcing the triumph of Modi, the new
Messaiah and his one-man year-long campaign to banish the Congress forever from
the face of India.. All news channels have come with their exit poll findings
and the difference among their calculations is
marginal while giving an outright
victory to BJP to emerge as the single party with the largest majority. What is
left for the 16th (the d-day for the announcement of the results)
though every channel advertises its exclusive coverage of the poll results? The
channels await the results only to see how far they can pat themselves for their
accuracy in predicting Modi’s victory. It will be Breaking News all through the day followed by a marathon
talk session among the studio panelists whose words of wisdom will be lost in
the din that the Breaking News will let loose. The candidates will wait to see
the margin of their victory or loss, either to burst crackers in this hot
mid-summer or to fade far away with their mid-summer day dreams shattered. All
of them will be preparing their two liners to speak on the microphone such as a
victory of the masses , a victory for change, a victory for Modi, the Messiah,
or with pretended humility accepting the verdict of the people. The spin doctors
both on the side of the victor and the vanquished will come out either exalting
the PM in waiting and singing paeans to him or wondering how their right party
lost to wrong reasons. The voters will wait to congratulate themselves for
holding the democratic power in their
hands to shape the destiny of the poll players. They will have to wait for another five years
or in the losers lament only for less than a couple of years to exercise their
power to make or mar the politicians..
With exit polls signaling
a Modi victory, can the Congress dare hope for a modicum of success? The Modi
acolytes instead of remaining euphoric in
victory have started feeling sorry for the vanquished for trusting the ma-beta-beti combine for its ruination.
They are actually doing the analysis for the poor Congress ,who according to
them now stand orphaned as the ma-beta-beti-jamaibabu combine will be banished to wilderness in Kandava prastha. The Modi-ites in all
magnanimity tell the poor Congis ‘abandon all hope, you who enter the poll fray’
as no Arjun is in sight to save you. In
the same breath they add: ‘abandon all despair; the Messiah is on the throne’. The tweets from Modi votaries are less about their party and more
about the missing prince of the Congress at his Mom’s farewell party to the
good old man whose only virtuous sin was obedience to her and about how the intellect of the Oxford educated economist was blunted
by Madam and how the aristocracy of the duo -dynasty will henceforth be replaced by a
single man and his oligarchy of ‘yes ministers’.
At the end of all this
euphoric slanging on the TV sets and twitter sites as a prelude to the march of
the Messiah into 7 RCR, a wimpish question arises within me what if exit polls
are belied! Well with just 15 hours to go before the dance of democracy begins
on the TV studios, will I be left alive to witness it or marauded and butchered
for uttering a blasphemy against the modern Messiah!
