The Face that launched a thousand Ads

The Face that launched a thousand Ads
Mukesh Ambani’s gifts to his reliance customers made the headlines in every single newspaper today, but this net gift of Reliance was completely overshadowed by the handsome face of our photogenic PM that was the centre spread in all the newspapers. Poor Ambani ! His photo with his lovely wife was relegated to p.2 and that too in 1/8th size of the PM’s picture. The well dressed and picture perfect looks of the PM with not a single strand of hair out of place, with his immaculately trimmed beard ( far more appealing than the pepper-salt bearded looks of our model turned actors),his rimless spectacles that add glowing wisdom to his face, made the business magnate look a paler shadow of what he should have been at the time of such a momentous announcement. It made one wonder why Ambani preferred to efface himself when he was making big strides to reach digital leadership not only of India but of the world. The silent PM certainly preceded the voluble  AM(Ambani Mukesh) today
There was this big news a few weeks earlier, made by our Minister for Culture. He had announced that “PM Modi will be the face of Incredible India campaign of the Union Culture and Tourism Ministry, replacing Amir Khan, the last brand ambassador of the campaign.”He added that PM is the Best face for the campaign. Modi’s brand ambassadorship had got a boost after his government came to power from the Supreme Court  that barred publication of leaders’ photos in advertisements except those of the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India, saying it infringed on the  fundamental rights and federal structure. Though the Supreme Court had recently(in March)  modified its own verdict by including the publication of pictures of Union Ministers of concerned departments, Chief Ministers, Governors and State Ministers of the concerned departments, our PM without showing the least sense of fatigue had been beaming through almost every page of the newspapers. The tax payers money had been well and truly spent.
Now the private industries have out classed the rather pedestrian advertisements of the government and Reliance has shown the way to keep the face of the PM forever digitalized in our minds. This is another master stroke of Mukesh Ambani to make PM his brand ambassador. Poor Khans- Amir, Shahrukh, Salman, not to leave out our dear old Amitabh, and all the Kareenas,Deepikas and Katrinas.  Certainly  it s time for a new hagiography of PM Modi with the title “The Face that launched a thousand Ads”
